Beneficiary Web Enrollment

Click here to visit the Beneficiary Web Enrollment Web site.

What is Beneficiary Web Enrollment (BWE)?

Eligible service members and their family members can manage their enrollment in TRICARE Prime programs (TRICARE Prime, TRICARE Prime Remote) online through the Beneficiary Web Enrollment site.

Enroll in Prime
If you are eligible for TRICARE Prime (or TRICARE Prime Remote), you will be able to enroll using the BWE site. Sponsors and their family members can view current TRICARE coverage and Prime eligibility, enroll into Prime and choose a primary care manager (PCM).

Retirees enrolling into TRICARE Prime can make their initial enrollment fee payment through BWE. Ongoing fees will be billed or you can sign up to pay them electronically.

Update Personal Information
Updating your personal contact information (address, phone number or e-mail address) in BWE updates that same information for both DEERS and TriWest. TRICARE Standard and Extra beneficiaries can use BWE to update their contact information, too.

Request PCM Change
If you are already enrolled into TRICARE Prime, you can use BWE to request a Primary Care Manager (PCM) change. PCMs are assigned based on location, availability, military treatment facility guidelines and TRICARE access standards. If approved, the effective date for your PCM change will be six days from the date of your BWE request. Please wait until you have confirmation (a letter will be mailed to you) that your PCM request was approved before you seek care. You can also call TriWest at 1-888-TRIWEST or view your assigned PCM information on the BWE site. Please be aware that some PCM changes will require the approval of your MTF commander. Contact your MTF to learn about any unique PCM change guidelines that may apply to you.

TRICARE Prime active duty service members may submit a request for a new enrollment via BWE; however a PCM change request must still be submitted via a paper-based change form to their regional contractor through a TRICARE Service Center.

TRICARE Overseas Prime (TOP) beneficiaries cannot use BWE. Contact your TRICARE Area Office for more information about eligibility and enrollment.

Other BWE Features

  • Transfer enrollment to a new location or region. If approved, the effective day for the transfer will be six days in the future from the date of the completed BWE request. Please wait until you have confirmation that your transfer request was approved prior to seeking care.
  • Convert active duty enrollment to retiree enrollment (up to 90 days before retirement; DEERS must reflect your retirement status)
  • Add other health insurance (OHI) information
  • Request a new enrollment card
BWE tutorials are available. To view a tutorial, click on the appropriate link below.

You will need the latest version of Flashplayer to view these tutorials.

Accessing BWE

To use the BWE Web site you will need one of the following:

Valid Certified Common Access Card (CAC). To obtain a CAC or reset a CAC PIN number, visit an ID-card issuing facility. You can find one using the RAPIDS Site Locator or by calling the Defense Manpower Data Center Support Office at 1-800-477-8227.

Defense Financial and Accounting Services (DFAS) myPay PIN. For help with your DFAS PIN, visit the myPay Web site, click on the “New PIN” button, and follow the instructions to retrieve it. You may also contact DFAS Customer Support Unit at 1-888-DFAS-411 (1-888-332-7411).

DS Logon. Sponsor can create a DoD Self-Service Logon, called a DS Logon, for themselves and for eligible family members. To establish a DS Logon, the sponsors must log into the Department of Defense Self-Service Access Center. After creating the DS Logon, a personal identification number (PIN) will be mailed, along with instructions on how to activate the DS Logon. Family members can also request a DS Logon for themselves at an ID card-issuing facility when they are getting an identification card; the one-time PIN will be mailed to them.

What Else Should I Know About Using BWE?

The BWE site does not factor in drive time from your home to your PCM. If you select a PCM located more than 30 minutes from your home, you are accepting a waiver of TRICARE’s Access to Care standards.

Keep a copy of your enrollment application or confirmation until you have received your TRICARE Prime enrollment card or PCM change letter from TriWest. If you need to see your PCM before receiving your card, contact TriWest at 1-888-TRIWEST (874-9378) to verify your TRICARE Prime program’s effective date and PCM assignment.

New enrollments made through BWE are subject to the 20th of the Month Rule.

Newborns of sponsors (and/or other family members) enrolled in the West region will have an enrollment effective date the same as the date of birth if the BWE request is submitted within 60 days from the date of birth. When no family members are enrolled in Prime, the newborn’s enrollment would follow the 20th of the Month rule instead of the date of birth.
