Family Resources
The family plays a big part during the wounded Service member’s recovery period. To help families heal together and build strong relationships,
information and support exists for spouses, children, and parents.
The Service member, spouse and children will have to adjust to the new “normal” at home. TriWest helps the West Region beneficiary utilize
the TRICARE mental and behavioral health coverage by offering assistance finding local network providers and by making local and national
resources available through the
Behavioral Health Portal
on www.triwest.com, including the
Help From Home Streaming Video series and information on topics such as:
Relationships
Relationships can be difficult from time to time. Sometimes a series of minor issues can build up and become a larger relationship issue.
Child
Anxiety and Stress
All children experience anxiety and stress from time to time. If these feelings are constant over a period of time, professional help
may be needed. Adjustment disorder is a set of clinically significant emotional or behavioral symptoms in response to a specific stressor
(for example problems within the family, deployments, relocations, etc.).
Depression
in Children
Children who are clinically depressed feel down, sad or hopeless all the time, for weeks on end. Self-assessment quizzes are available
to help children and their parents determine if there is a problem that may be solved by seeking professional help.
Childhood
Sleep Issues
Sleep issues are the second most-frequently encountered behavioral problems encountered by primary care managers. When children are
having trouble sleeping, the effects may be felt throughout the entire family. Sleep problems can be either emotional (caused by stress,
anxiety or depression) or can be medical (caused by medications, allergies or underlying medical issues).
Child and Adolescent Self Care
Sometimes, your children need help managing their own physical and emotional health. This can include:
- Dealing with stress
- Staying healthy through physical activity, nutrition and weight management
