Extraordinary Support of Employees who Serve in the Arizona National Guard and Reserve
(TUCSON, ARIZONA) – The Arizona Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), an agency of the Department of Defense, announced today the following employers are to be honored with,
the Pro Patria Award in recognition of extraordinary support of its employees who serve in the Arizona National Guard and Reserve.
TriWest Healthcare Alliance,
City of Phoenix and
Ascent Healthcare Solutions will receive their awards at the Arizona Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserves Annual Employer Awards Banquet being held at the Tucson Sheraton Hotel & Suites, in Tucson, Arizona on April 19, 2008.
According to Scott Essex, ESGR Arizona Chair,
“The Pro Patria Award” the highest Award a State Committee can grant, is presented to a maximum of three Employers per year whose actions epitomize outstanding support for Guardsmen, Reservists, and their families. These employers set the standard for support of Guardsmen and Reservists in the state who have been mobilized in support of the Global War on Terrorism. They demonstrated exceptional support for our national defense by adopting personnel policies that make it easier for employees to participate in the National Guard and Reserve. This award represents the pinnacle of employer excellence and commitment to the ideals of our great Nation, Life, Liberty and Justice for all.
These employers join with thousands of American Employers who have reviewed and amended their current human resources policies to ensure compliance with the Uniformed Services Employment and Re-Employment Rights Act Law (USERRA). Many employers provide “Above and Beyond” support with pay differential to offset the loss of wages, and extension of health care benefits which complement coverage provided by the military when their employees are mobilized,” added
ESGR Arizona Chair Scott Essex.
As the 1.2 million members of the National Guard and Reserve continue to perform an increasing number of unique missions with America’s borders and beyond, ESGR will continue to be the resource for the employers of America’s new patriots. ESGR provides education, consultation, and if necessary mediation for employers of Guard and Reserve employees.
