Employers of Arizona National Guard and Reserve members to be honored for extraordinary support

(Tempe, Arizona) — The Arizona Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense agency, announced several Arizona employers to be honored in recognition of extraordinary support of their employees who serve in the Arizona National Guard and Reserve.

These employers will receive their awards at the Arizona Committee for ESGR Annual Awards Luncheon to be held at Monti’s La Casa Vieja restaurant, in Tempe, Ariz., May 14, 2009 at 11 a.m.

ESGR and military officials will present public and private sector employers with Pro-Patria, Above and Beyond, and Seven Seals Awards.  Additionally, the Honorable Ken Bennett, Secretary of State for Arizona will be giving the keynote address.

According to Scott Essex, ESGR Arizona Chair, “These awards were created by ESGR to publicly recognize American Employers who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the patriots before them, have answered their nation’s call to serve.  Supportive employers are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s National Guard and Reserve units.”

These employers join with thousands of American Employers who have reviewed and amended their current human resources policies to ensure compliance with the Uniformed Services Employment and Re-Employment Rights Act Law (USERRA).  “Many employers provide “Above and Beyond” support with pay differential to offset the loss of wages, and extension of health care benefits which complement coverage provided by the military when their employees are mobilized,” added Essex.
