TriWest Recognized for Commitment to National Guard Members and their Families
PHOENIX (Aug. 27, 2008) — For its unwavering dedication to National Guard members and their families, TriWest Healthcare Alliance received the prestigious Heritage Award from the Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States (EANGUS).
EANGUS presents the Heritage Award annually to companies that distinguish themselves in support of the National Guard. EANGUS’s President, Command Sgt. Maj. (retired) A. Frank LeverIII, presented the award to TriWest President and CEO David J. McIntyre, Jr. at a formal banquet on August 21 in Savannah, Ga.
“It’s gratifying to be recognized by EANGUS as an organization wholly committed to meeting the needs of our National Guard members,” McIntyre said. “We’ve worked hard to implement programs to assist them and their families.”
Over the past year, TriWest’s National Guard support throughout TRICARE’s 21-state West Region included:

- Co-hosting combat-stress disorder conferences in several states for hundreds of civilian healthcare professionals.
- Growing the TRICARE provider network, with particular focus on rural areas where many National Guard members and families reside.
- Conducting briefings at bases, posts and other venues to inform returning National Guard members about the TRICARE options they have.
- Contributing nearly $500,000 to National Guard units through its “Giving to the Guard” campaign.
- Sponsoring several “Welcome Home” events to honor those returning from deployments.
- Hosting a comprehensive National Guard Resource Center on www.triwest.com with information of specific interest to National Guard members, including behavioral health resources.
