PHOENIX — TriWest Healthcare Alliance announced today that it has been awarded full accreditation for Health Utilization Management, Case Management and Disease Management from URAC, a Washington, D.C.-based health care accrediting organization that establishes quality standards for the health care industry.
"Every day we are mindful of the critical sacrifices made by our customers—America's military family—in defense of our freedom," said David J. McIntyre, Jr., president and CEO of TriWest Healthcare Alliance. "URAC representatives took great care to examine our business practices and in doing so, determined that our health care network meets their rigorous standard of quality. By achieving this accreditation, our beneficiaries will have further confirmation that they are receiving the highest level of care."
TriWest is the U.S. Department of Defense’s contractor for management of the TRICARE health entitlement program available to active duty military members, their families, retirees and retirees’ families.
When health care cannot be provided at a military installation, TriWest connects families with an extensive network of more than 116,000 community physicians, hospitals and other health care providers.
"By applying for and receiving accreditation, TriWest has demonstrated a commitment to access to quality health care," said Alan P. Spielman, URAC President and CEO. "Quality health care is crucial to our nation’s welfare and it is important to have organizations that are willing to measure themselves against national standards."
URAC’s Health Network Accreditation standards include key quality benchmarks for:
- Network management
