9/11/2009

COSTA MESA, Calif. — Service members often rely on military chaplains for help, and now military chaplains will improve their skills serving the health care and behavioral health needs of military families in California.

The seminar “Heal Our Heroes: Ministering to the Military in Our Midst,” sponsored by TriWest Healthcare Alliance and hosted by Military Ministry, will be held Sept. 11-12, 2009, at Calvary Chapel, 3800 S. Fairview Ave. in Santa Ana, Calif.

“We want to do everything possible for these men and women in uniform who execute tough, demanding jobs and for their families who also are serving our nation by enduring long separations,” said TriWest Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer Dr. Kenneth Farmer. “Sponsoring this important seminar to help educate military chaplains is another way to support the well being of our military and their families.”

The seminar begins at 7 p.m. on Friday with a “Time of Remembrance,” recognizing those who have sacrificed for our national security since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the U.S. Military Ministry will conduct a “Bridges to Healing” from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Speakers include Maj. Gen. Bob Dees (retired), executive director of Military Ministry, and Pastor Raul Ries of Calvary Chapel Golden Springs.
