Referrals
A referral is the process of sending a patient to another professional provider when the requested service is outside the scope of practice for the referring provider.
Authorizations
An authorization is a request for services, a procedure, or admission to a hospital or facility that should be obtained before any service is given or by the next business day after an emergency admission.
Referral/Authorization Status
TriWest provides reason code descriptions with information regarding referral/authorization status. Registered users can view authorizations for all locations, search by provider last name or NPI or by patient.
