Cancer Clinical Study Nurse Navigation Program Helps Veterans Facing Cancer
WASHINGTON (August 7, 2024) — For Veterans diagnosed with cancer, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) offers its Cancer Clinical Trial Nurse Navigation service to help patients identify and locate clinical cancer trials as a potential treatment option.
According to VA, the program assists diagnosed Veterans seeking clinical trials open for enrollment that match their specific needs and preferences for their diagnosis. Clinical trials may be at a VA facility or outside the VA system and rely on patients volunteering to participate in them.
Cancer clinical trials are important studies to help researchers find, prevent, and treat cancer. Access to clinical trials is a standard of care for all diagnosed cancers and can be essential in increasing treatment options, according to VA.
