TriWest Earns U.S. Labor Department HIRE Vets Platinum Medallion Award for Exceptional Veteran Hiring and Retention

Phoenix-Based Company Has a 26-Year Record of Supporting Military and Veterans

Phoenix, AZ (November 9, 2022) – TriWest Healthcare Alliance announced today for the second consecutive year it has earned the prestigious U.S. Department of Labor HIRE Vets Medallion Award in the large company category for its performance in hiring and retaining U.S. Armed Forces Veterans.

U.S. Secretary of Labor Martin J. Walsh awarded TriWest the honor in recognition of TriWest's established record of recruiting, hiring and retaining employees who are military Veterans and creating unique programs and benefits to support them. TriWest also received the honor last year when it earned the 2021 HIRE Vets Platinum Medallion Award in the large company category.

"We are thrilled and extremely humbled to have earned the HIRE Vets Medallion Award for the second consecutive year," said TriWest President and CEO David J. McIntyre, Jr. "This prestigious honor is a testament to our deep commitment and performance in ensuring we recruit, welcome and retain our nation's Veterans in a company culture where they are purpose-driven, appreciated and highly valued."

HIRE Vets Medallion Award selectees are chosen by the Department of Labor as part of the Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing American Military Veterans Act of 2017 (HIRE Vets Act or the Act). The program is the only federal recognition of its kind recognizing the exceptional achievements of employers who value the unique skills, integrity and mission-driven purpose that Veterans bring to the workplace.

The Platinum level recognition, the top award level, signifies that TriWest not only exceeds hiring and retention goals at the highest levels, but also has significant programs and policies in place to support the unique needs of Veterans and military families.

HIRE Vets Medallion Award recipients are selected based on rigorous employment and integration assistance criteria from the preceding year. For its 2022 Award in the large company category (500-plus employees), TriWest demonstrated a strong record of success in hiring and retaining Veterans in 2021 based on several key program criteria.

Among notable achievements, slightly more than 25% of TriWest's new hires in 2021 across the organization were Veterans and 100% of previously hired Veterans remained at TriWest for more than one year.

"This success is the direct result of the passion, commitment and effort of our employees who are dedicated to ensuring our nation's military and Veterans are valued, and that they receive the quality care they have earned and deserve," said McIntyre. "Each day we are proud to serve our nation's Veterans and military families in a company culture that values the service and sacrifices others have paid for our nation's defense."

TriWest is privileged to support the health care needs of our nation's Veterans, offering access to quality provider networks and excellent customer service through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Community Care Network in Regions 4 and 5. Prior to its current contracts with VA, TriWest administered the Department of Defense TRICARE program for 17 years.
