Blue Star Welcome Week Spotlights Support for Military-Connected Individuals and Families
PHOENIX (September 25, 2023) — During the last week in September each year, the military support organization Blue Star Families hosts and coordinates Blue Star Welcome Week, a national campaign to help military-connected individuals and their families thrive in their communities.
According to Blue Star Families, approximately 600,000 Active Duty military members and their families move annually to new neighborhoods and communities. Each transition offers an opportunity to help these military-connected individuals and families belong wherever they live.
During Blue Star Welcome Week, military members, their families and Veterans are spotlighted by Blue Star Families to help ensure they all feel welcomed and supported in their communities. Blue Star Families encourages communities to become involved by hosting local welcome events, posting signs of support, and sharing welcoming messages on social media.
“By supporting and getting involved with the 13 Blue Star Families chapter locations, joining our digital community The Neighborhood and participating in our national campaigns, you can connect directly with military members, Veterans and their families to make a huge, lasting impact,” said Leah Love, associate director of community impact for Blue Star Families.
TriWest Healthcare Alliance (TriWest) is a long-time partner with Blue Star Families. During the 2022 Blue Star Welcome Week, TriWest and other partners provided support to help the organization connect with thousands of military and Veteran families, double its local events, and add virtual events to its week-long campaign.
