TriWest Employees Honor Pat Tillman’s Service Legacy in 20th Annual Pat’s Run

PHOENIX (April 15, 2024) — Twenty years ago Pat Tillman, a former Arizona Cardinals and Arizona State University football player, died in early April while serving in Afghanistan with the U.S. Army.

Tillman ended his successful professional football career to become an Army Ranger following the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. After his death, Tillman's family and friends came together to honor his legacy of selfless service. They created the Pat Tillman Foundation in 2004.

The foundation’s mission is to identify and develop military members, Veterans and spouses to become leaders on a local and global scale. It empowers military and Veteran community members to commit to service beyond themselves, as Tillman did.

“Pat’s Run” is a foundation run/walk event and major fundraising effort each mid-April. The event helps selected military members, Veterans and spouses receive scholarships, leadership development, and ongoing mentorship. Today, Pat’s Run has grown to nearly 30,000 participants honoring Tillman’s legacy and the foundation’s support of military and Veteran communities.

TriWest has been a proud sponsor of the event since 2006. Over the years, many TriWest employees have participated to honor Tillman’s service. This year, several employees joined the 20th Pat’s Run to show TriWest’s ongoing support of the Pat Tillman Foundation.
