TriWest Employee Video Features Her Path to Recovery During National PTSD Awareness Month

PHOENIX (June 1, 2023) – June is National PTSD Awareness Month, bringing attention to the condition of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and its impact on those who have experienced physical and psychological trauma in their lives.

Individuals who experience PTSD have faced intense, life-changing impact affecting their overall mental, emotional and psychological condition. This may be unseen, but the need for public awareness and understanding of PTSD, and helpful resources to cope, are critical to quality of life.

To spotlight the importance of PTSD awareness and finding a path to healing, Michelle Grady, TriWest Healthcare Alliance Communications Liaison, has publicly shared her traumatic story as a severely injured victim of a 2019 mass shooting in El Paso, Texas.

Grady’s experience and serious injuries resulted in severe trauma, yet she shares her story of recovery. She emphasizes the importance of awareness of the struggles facing those who have experienced PTSD, believing understanding is key.

"We don't always know what other people are going through,” she says. “We can't always see scars on people. So, it's important to just try to take a step back."
