May We Never Forget: TriWest President and CEO Reflects on the 20th Anniversary of 9/11

Phoenix, AZ (September 10, 2021) – Twenty years ago, on September 11, 2001, nearly 3,000 people lost their lives to attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and hijacked airplanes. Of those lives lost, 412 belonged to first-responders.

As our nation marks the passage of two decades since the day that changed our lives forever, memories of 9/11 are as sharp and painful as broken glass.

“For many of our own TriWest family, who put on the cloth of our nation in response to the terror that was perpetrated against us or whose loved ones did, this day is especially poignant. God bless you. We are forever indebted to you for your service and sacrifice,” said TriWest President and CEO David J. McIntyre, Jr.  “For those Service members who lost their lives while serving our country, or those who lost friends or loved ones, words seem wholly inadequate.”  

McIntyre said members of the TriWest Team will never forget the events of that day or the lives lost on 9/11. And, we will never forget those who ran to the fire or responded to the nation’s call in time of need.

On Patriots Day, McIntyre remembers those who lost their lives that day in September. “We honor the sacrifices made by many who rose to defend the United States in the wake of those attacks, as well as their loved ones.”

Across the country, flags will be flown at half-staff and a moment of silence observed to correspond with the first attack that occurred at 8:46 a.m. EST at the North Tower of the World Trade Center.

“At TriWest, we are privileged and humbled to support the government in meeting the health care needs of those who serve, and those of you who served, our nation,” said McIntyre. “May this day mark a doubling down on our commitment to ensuring that our work always honors the sacrifice of those we are privileged to serve… for they deserve nothing but our very best!”
