Suicide Prevention Month is a Time to Gain Knowledge and Become a Difference Maker

PHOENIX (September 3, 2024) — September is annually recognized as Suicide Prevention Month, an important time to gain knowledge to help reduce suicide in our nation’s military and Veteran communities.

While suicide is a leading cause of death in the U.S., military and Veteran communities can be particularly vulnerable to individuals taking their own lives. Military life involves experiencing a unique, demanding and highly structured culture, and life’s additional stresses can increase suicide risk.

Suicide Prevention Month reminds us that while suicide is not predictable, becoming informed and aware of crisis warning signs is critical to reducing suicide.

As a long-time supporter of our nation’s military and Veteran communities, TriWest Healthcare Alliance is proud to offer useful information to help reduce suicide and make a difference. Suicide in the military and Veteran communities is preventable, and the more knowledge we gain helps keep individuals safe.
