Young Adult TRICARE Beneficiaries: Know Your Healthcare Coverage Options
PHOENIX (May 21, 2026) – For young adult TRICARE beneficiaries who will soon age out of their healthcare coverage from their parents’ or stepparents’ plans, the Defense Health Agency (DHA) wants them to know there are still options.
TRICARE Young Adult (TYA) provides healthcare benefits for younger beneficiaries who will soon become too old to stay with their parents’ coverage.
The plan allows young adults to start managing their healthcare as they take on new responsibilities in life, DHA says.
The TRICARE Young Adult Program Fact Sheet details eligibility requirements for TYA plans, providing an overview to decide which plan is right.
Learn options: This recent TRICARE Newsroom article shares more on how young adults can stay covered under TRICARE.
