WASHINGTON (September 27, 2024) — Emphasizing hope for the future when preventing Veteran suicide is often overlooked as a vital step.

For those experiencing severe personal crisis, suicide is not an inevitable choice. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) emphasizes that suicide is preventable – even in crisis – and that there are always immediate resources to help Veterans focus on hope and save lives.

Suicide is complex and there are many personal factors involved in Veteran suicide, VA says. Immediate access to resources during suicide crisis can reduce Veterans’ risk, offering hope to help save lives.
