Women Veterans Can Schedule VA Gynecology Specialist Appointments Without VA PCP Referral

WASHINGTON (Dec. 4, 2025) — The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has announced it will allow women Veterans to schedule appointments with VA gynecology specialists without a primary care provider (PCP) referral.

According to VA, effective immediately, women Veterans enrolled in VA care can directly schedule VA gynecology specialist appointments if they choose.

More than 1 million women Veterans enrolled in VA care will be served by the change, VA says.
