Honoring Armed Forces Day: An Army Reserve Veteran’s Journey from PTSD to Possibility

PHOENIX (May 15, 2026) — On Armed Forces Day tomorrow, we honor those who serve and sacrifice for our nation’s defense and protection.

In recognition of this important observance, TriWest Healthcare Alliance is sharing a new Inspiring Stories video spotlighting one U.S. Army Reserve Veteran’s dedicated military duty, resilience, and personal recovery journey.

Alisa Allen proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1994-2008, including an 11-month Iraq War deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003. When she suddenly received her deployment orders in late 2002, she had just two weeks to prepare to leave her family, including her small children.

Upon sudden deployment, she found herself serving in an unfamiliar, intense active duty combat environment she wasn’t prepared to experience.
