TRICARE Sponsors and Beneficiaries: Check Your DEERS Information Regularly
PHOENIX (Aug. 1, 2025) — It is important U.S. military member and military retiree sponsors, and their family member beneficiaries, regularly update their TRICARE health benefit information to avoid unintended care disruptions.
According to the Defense Health Agency (DHA), accurate Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) information is essential to properly managing TRICARE beneficiaries’ appropriate coverage.
Accurate DEERS information enables TRICARE military member sponsors, retirees, and their family members to receive the full health benefits they deserve, DHA emphasizes.
TRICARE sponsors and beneficiaries should also be aware that DHA doesn’t manage DEERS. TRICARE sponsors and their family member beneficiaries are responsible for updating their DEERS information, especially qualifying life events.
DEERS records should be checked on the milConnect website at least once every three months, DHA advises. Any incorrect TRICARE sponsor or beneficiary information should be updated immediately to ensure continuous care coverage.
This recent TRICARE Newsroom article spotlights why TRICARE beneficiaries should regularly check their DEERS information.
